Panathenaic Stadium • Presidential Palace • National-Royal Garden • The Zappeion
Duration 2 hours
Experience the breathtaking Panathenaic stadium, also known as "Kallimarmaro" or "beautiful marble" by the locals, nestled amongst wooded hills. This iconic stadium was built 25 centuries ago and was beautifully restored by Pierre de Coubertin for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. After being renovated for the 2004 Olympics, the stadium now serves as the finish line for the Athens Marathon and boasts a seating capacity of eighty thousand on sixty levels, making it the only stadium in the world entirely built in marble.
As we continue our tour, we'll stop by the presidential palace to take photos with the famous Evzones, the presidential guards, before entering the lush National Garden. Take a moment to unwind in this green oasis before ending our walk in front of the magnificent neoclassical Zappeion Congress Center, a true gem of 19th century architecture
